February 2016 Wedding Workshop
After we hosted our first wedding workshop in July last year (check it out here) we received so much positive feedback we decided to host our second workshop in February. The wedding photography industry is bursting with tools and information on running a photography business. But its often difficult to adapt the information to your current market and relevant circumstances.
This workshop was focused on how we approach our entire business. From how we shoot, to how we deal with clients, how we keep up with our sales our workflow, pretty much how we do what we do;-) We are always honored when other talented creatives choose to take two full days out of their busy schedules to come see how we do things.
THANK YOU to all the students who came with open hearts and minds. We cant wait to see how you interpret our successes and our failures to better your own businesses.
Our next two day wedding workshop will be held on the 28th & 29th July 2016.
We had some very experienced photographers attend this workshop too so besides just brushing up on things they already know well, we wanted the students to walk away with beautiful content they could add to their portfolio or social media platforms, so we teamed up with some amazing suppliers to pull this shoot together.

We’ve never believed in working exclusively with any one supplier. We’ve learnt over the years that working with various creatives not only stretches you in your creativity but also forces you out of your comfort zone. You’re only as good as the people you choose to work with. We loved working with a number of suppliers we’ve never worked with before, on this shoot.
We’re excited to already start planning our July 2016 workshop. We will host 2 wedding workshops a year so if you’d like to learn from our mistakes, learn from our successes be inspired or simply add content to your existing portfolio and network with other photographers our next workshop will be the perfect place to start.
This workshop was aimed to help photographers analyze their own business processes, to see if their workflow is productive and efficient? Are they actually making money while doing what they love? Does their business serve their clients well? What are things they can improve on to run a customer driven business?
We also discussed how social media can grow your brand, how to work with service providers to secure your place in this industry, and how to create a brand that is associated with the best! We chatted to an international co-ordinator to talk about how to work well with co-ordinators, their commissions and how to land the destination weddings we all want.
As always there were lots of questions about pricing and how to position yourself in the industry so that we can maintain reasonable working hours, balancing work with our personal lives. But the truth is as photographers we carry a weighty responsibility of capturing and protecting other peoples greatest moments.
If we’re not positioned correctly it can affect our ability to tell stories in the best way we know how while maintaining joy in this emotionally demanding craft. We take our responsibility of telling beautiful stories very seriously but we’ve come to understand that if we don’t care first for our creative souls, we cant do our job well.
